After I got my things in, my other roommates started to arrive. I had never
met or talked to them before, but I could tell then that they were going to be some great friends by
time the program ended.

Juan is from Puerto Rico and he was the roommate who shared my room. He was a part of the Horticulture
Internship. He loves baseball and we played chess a lot and he even helped me with my Spanish. I
had to get used to him working at night... when I would come in at midnight, he would be leaving
for work, and when he got in from work at nine in the morning, I would be leaving for work.
He always had a smile on his face, though. We still argue about baseball through the Internet
to this day.

Byron came to Florida all the way from California. He worked at the Beach Club serving guests their
quick breakfasts just before they went off to the parks to enjoy the plants and flowers. He and I
enjoyed going to see movies at the Pleasure Island AMC. He and I would match wits in chess occasionally,
as he and Juan are playing in the above picture. He and I e-mail each other every now and then.

Philip made his way to the WDWCP through Boise State in Idaho. He joined me at the Magic
Kingdom to work, but in Tomorrowland serving guests who were there admiring the plants and
flowers and whose breakfasts had lasted them 'til noon because they're running around everywhere. Cosmic Ray's was his residence. He can sing the entire
Sonny Eclipse spiel now. He read a lot and when he wasn't doing that, he would be playing
card games or chess with myself or Juan or Byron. And, yes, we still chat through the Internet as well.
TIP: While I had great roommates, I heard stories of not-so-great roommates. One of the big
things Disney will teach you is Diversity. Everyone is an individual and will have different
views or beliefs. If it conflicts with you, don't let it ruin the fun you'll have down there.
Just embrace it and move on to your own thing, and be respectful of others. Plus, be prepared to
share a bathroom with at least one other person.
